Our calendar is already full for the holiday season, but not as crazy as previous years. We’ve been limiting where we go and what all we do as a family this holiday season. We’ve had a few people ask us recently “Why do you attend holiday events as a family?” and it’s something we’ve been thinking about too.
When you think back to your childhood and the holiday season, are there things that you did that stick out for you? For us, we have memories of going on a Christmas train ride, to see light displays around town, and to a local Christmas concert. These are all things that come to mind when we think of the holidays now as adults.
Becoming parents we wanted to continue some of those memories and start traditions with our own little family. Going to different holiday activities became a whole new experience where we got to see things through the eyes of our girls. These holiday activities became extra special to us.
There are so many different Christmas activities we can do this time of year, with new ones every holiday season. This year, one of the new activities in town is Glow. For the first time, there is a big event for Christmas in our hometown. We couldn’t wait to go and see all the different light displays. Someone had a brilliant idea when they decided to set up lights indoors in “Raincouver”.
The biggest reason we attend different activities throughout the Christmas season is to make memories together as a family. We want our kids to have a similar connection to special things like we did growing up. Spending time together is incredibly important to us and things like this make it extra special. What can I say, we’re all huge Christmas fans in this house. It’s a meaningful time of year for us. We will happily pack the girls into the car and head out on adventures together.
THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE THE PEOPLE WE LOVE, THE PLACES WE’VE BEEN, AND THE MEMORIES WE’VE MADE ALONG THE WAY.
