Many late nights up with our newborn, which was to be expected right? So I spent many Friday nights at my husband’s hockey games, late nights at that. For whatever reason the noise there always seemed to lull our daughter to sleep. I miss going to see him play, as I haven’t been in many months. Hoping to get my sister to watch the baby/house some time so I can go again.
Last New Years Eve we spent it with family, we will be doing the same this New Years Eve. The difference? We had a 3 day old last year, this year we have a 1 year old that will be into making noise! We brought in the 2013 as a family in the pediatric emergency.
We are definitely thinking that this time, bringing in 2014 will be very different. I wanted to share some of our highlights from throughout the year. I can’t believe how much happened in one year. I’m sure it will just get crazier and busier as our daughter gets older, and with the possibility that one day we may be blessed with more children.
What are some of the highlights for you from 2013, and what are you looking forward to in 2014?

I was extremely excited to get our first family photos taken, thanks to our friend Elaine. I love them all. I can’t believe how much Evie has grown since this day.

Anyone else remember the heat waves we had? I do! Mostly because I got sunburned twice during them. But it was lovely. We took Evie to the beach for the first time, with my husbands and my family. We all enjoyed fish and chips, and preventing sea gulls from trying to take our food. Poor little love is fair skinned like me, so I am thankful we got a little sun tent for her.

2013 will be remembered mostly as a year of first for Everly and us as a family. Here, she figured out how to roll and was very proud of herself. She worked her way through every possible first way too quickly for my liking, but it was incredible to see.

We signed her up for 4 weeks of swimming lessons in the summer. It was a great way for all of us to get out of the hot weather and enjoy some family time. Highly recommend doing this if you have little ones, both for water safety, and its very budget friendly to get everyone in. We loved seeing how happy she was in the water, she is a little water baby for sure. Time to go back to Hawaii yet huni?

We all went to Anvil for a week to volunteer at the camp. Anvil is very important to us, as its a summer camp I have been going to since I was 9, and Jason since we started dating. Bring up our daughter with us was a unique experience. She started crawling while we were there, and the amount of love showered upon her by all the staff and campers was incredible.

We lost track of how many boat rides she went on during the summer. We invested in a infant life jacket, two actually… one she hated. She loved watching the water rush past. She even went tubing behind the boat once, of course Mommy and Daddy were with her holding onto her tightly.

I have many memories of spur of the moment decisions we made. This one, we went for a walk around the sea wall, and decided to let her go play in the water park. We didn’t pack a different outfit so we let her play in one of her cloth diapers. She loved every minute of it. We will definitely be taking her to the water park again this summer.

Fall and winter are my favourite seasons. I love the colours, the smells, the amazing sun light. I especially love going to different farms and visiting their animals and pumpkin patches. We loved the pumpkin patch so much we went to two different ones. Everly did get to pick out a pumpkin, and she even picked out some mini gourds that made the greatest teething items.

There were so many wonderful starry nights this year. We got wrapped up in blankets and just looked at them one evening. We had a few times this year where we just stopped and went to enjoy the weather. We let Everly watch the rain and snow fall. We let her lie down on a blanket to soak up some sun.

We celebrate her first Christmas. What a wonderful time of the year, I am so looking forward to next year already. She loved so much of Christmas from going to church on Christmas Eve, to all the pretty lights. The big highlight for me was seeing her reaction to all the lights when we went to the Christmas train.

The biggest moment of them all this year. Celebrating at her 1st birthday party. The year went by way too fast, but we loved it as a family. She was not a huge cake smasher, she was more into visiting with everyone who came to celebrate her.
