LET THEM BE LITTLE AND LET THEM BE WILD…
Our girls are happiest outdoors and often are referred to as our wildlings. Time spent outdoors, in the wild, is the best thing for them. They get to explore, use their imagination, work on the gross and fine motor skills, and so much more. I love taking the girls outside. They often find the perfect tree to climb, a wood or field to run through, or sometimes a secret fairy garden.
There is just something special about kids getting to explore out in the wild. I want my girls to go play outside every day. It’s the best getting to go to different parks and places in our area where they can run free. They are getting to discover and explore. To feel the sand between their toes and splash in the ocean. They are tossing rocks into the river and seeing how big of a splash they can make.
My girls have a huge love of nature and an are big animal lovers. When we go out to places it becomes even more memorable when they find different creatures. They love seeing the squirrels run around and up the trees, or searching for fish in the streams. My girls are growing up with an appreciation for nature.
A bit ago I started following a company called The Wild on Instagram. I feel hard for their minimalistic, monochrome designs. The creator behind this line is Adriane. She has put a whole lot of love into these pieces. From making her own series of quirky characters and creatures to doing everything needed to create each shirt at home.
That’s right, the creator behind The Wild burns her own silk screens, hand print each and every shirt, and then packages everything. When you receive your order with the items you selected from The Wild you know a whole lot of love has gone into it. You’ll love everything about it because attention to detail has been given.
My oldest daughter noticed The Wild one day as I was looking at all their different designs and she quickly fell in love with all the different characters. An animal lover at heart she couldn’t choose just one she adored. They all became her favourite quickly. Each character Adriane has created for The Wild is simple and eye catching.
When I learnt that Adriane burns her own silk screens it brought back all the memories I had from art class when I was in school. I loved the process and I appreciate how much work it is to do something like that. The fact that each piece is printed by hand makes me love The Wild even more.
The shirts are made of cotton and are incredibly soft. With each shirt being printed by hand there are some slight variations, which are part of what make them unique. The girls have put these shirts to the test with everyday wear, being covered in food, and need to be washed often. Each washing they have come out looking like new. It is recommended that they be hung to dry, but I have popped them into the dryer on low.
WHAT THE GIRLS ARE WEARING FROM THE WILD
I let the girls each pick their shirt out from The Wild. We scrolled through the site together and it was interesting to see the different animals they gravitated towards.
Evie spotted Oslo the Otter immediately. I knew without her telling me why she wanted this one. Evie’s favourite animal to watch at our local aquarium are the sea otters. She adores getting to see them swim around, play, and even float about holding each other’s hands. In some ways, the otter reminds me a lot of her. She loves the water and playing. She is also always quick to ask to hold your hand.
Addie took her time. She wanted to see each and everyone one. Slowly she as I pointed to each one we got to a shirt that she nodded yes to when I asked her if she would like to wear it. Addie decided on Finn the Fox. There is the saying “clever as a fox” and that definitely describes her. She is very clever and resourceful. Plus she is quick, she sneaks up on us out of nowhere!
Check out The Wild if you are looking for something unique for your little one that loves animals and being outdoors. There are also soft toys, pants, and art prints available. You could find the perfect pieces to add to a nursery or for a baby shower gift.
