This weekend we had a special event we got to attend, and it was a first for both of the girls. We got to attend the Netflix screening for Beat Bugs here in Vancouver. It was a fun activity for just the three of us, and it was wonderful to get to check out the new show that will be coming to Netflix in August.
Just what is Beat Bugs? Well, it is a new animated series that features Crick, Jay, Buzz, Kumi, and Walter. They are five bug friends, and you get to go on all sorts of adventures with them in the over-grown yard they live in. Each of the bugs has their own distinctive personality. Your child will surely find one they relate to.
We got to watch two episodes, Penny Lane which is about Crick feeling like no one notices or listens to him, the other beat bugs realize and create a special place for Crick. Birthday is about when Jay and Crick’s birthdays roll around and everyone plans a surprise birthday party, something happens though and they might not even make the surprise party.
At the event, we got to meet Josh Wakely, the producer of Beat Bugs, and we also got to meet one of the animators. It was also really nice to put faces to the names of many I have gotten to know who are part of Netflix. Josh Wakely was incredibly kind and stopped to talk to Evie, and interact with Addie, you can actually see him walking up to Addie when I was snapping a picture of her at the event. He wrote, directed, and produced Beat Bugs.
I was not entirely sure what to expect, or if the show would keep the attention of both of my girls. With the bright animation and the show being a musical I should have known better. A tell-tale sign that Addie is enjoying something is that her feet twirl, and the whole time her feet were twirling away. It features some of the most well-known Beatles songs into the episodes, and you will be amazed to see what artists are part of this.
When we left the indoor picnic Evie was already asking when she could watch more episodes. She has to wait a bit because Beat Bugs is available in August! If you want a little sneak peek, take a look at the teaser trailer below.
